    UGADI festival celebrated in Cologne and Frankfurt. UGADI (Yugadi) is celebrated as the first day of New Year in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra and Karnataka. It falls on the first day of Chaitra month of Saka calendar. It is known as Gudhi Padwa in Maharashtra. Both Cologne Telugu Vedika e. V. and Frankfurt Telugu Velugu e. V. celebrated the festival today with great enthusiasm and festivities. Various cultural program were performed both in Cologne and Frankfurt

    Consul General Ms. Pratibha Parkar met the Lord Mayor of the City of Frankfurt am Main, Mr. Peter Feldmann, and congratulated him on being appointed as the Lord Mayor of Frankfurt for the second time. During the meeting were also present Mr. Eduard Hechler, dept. of Communications and City Marketing International Affairs, Mr. Tarkan Akman, Head of dept. of Communications and City Marketing and Mr. Eric Menges, CEO/President FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH. They had a very conducive and open discussion on topics of mutual cooperation in the field of Economy, Education and Culture. Mr. Feldmann along with his business delegation will be visiting Pune and Mumbai, India, in the middle of May, 2018. The discussions also revolved around this visit.

    The Rheinhessen Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a ‚Wirtschaftstag Indien‘(India Business Day) on 21st March 2018 in Mainz with the objective of discussing the opportunities that India has to offer. The Chamber wanted to highlight the Make In India campaign undertaken by Government of India to encourage foreign direct investment in India. CG Ms. Pratibha Parkar threw light on the steadily growing trade between the State of Rhineland Palatinate and India and mentioned that the total trade between RLP and India rose by almost 6.8% from 2016.

    CG met Dr. Mark Speich, State Secretary for Federal, International and European Affairs for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and had an intensive discussion on deepening ties in cultural and education sectors

    CG, Ms. Pratibha Parkar met the Frankfurt City Councillor for Education and Integration, Ms. Sylvia Weber. They discussed scope for deeper cooperation in the field of education and strengthened engagement with the Indian community in the region.

    The 24th edition in the series of India meets FrankfurtRheinMain-Let's talk business was held at TechQuartier in cooperation with IHK Frankfurt am Main, Wirtschaftsförderung Frankfurt and FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH on 15th March 2018. The event focused on the critical topic of 'The growing importance of Cyber Security in a digitally empowered world: Challenges and opportunities for the Indo-German biz scene'.
