Efforts underway to smoothen the employment regulations for Indian professionals in Germany

Mr. Wolfgang Rödel, Head, Foreigners\' Authority, Frankfurt shared this at a Seminar organised by the Consulate General of India in Frankfurt on \'German Immigration and Labour Law – Best Practice Cases shared by Indian IT Companies in Germany\'. He confirmed that with the amendment in the employment regulations that came through in July 2013, the process of granting visas and work permits to Indian professionals had been fast-tracked. He admitted that this was a work in progress and the guidelines required for the same needed some more clarity to ensure uniformity in the procedure.

Mr. Rodel was speaking at the 13th event in the series "India meets FrankfurtRheinMain – Let\'s talk business" organised by the Indian Consulate in association with its partners viz., Chamber of Commerce and Industry Frankfurt, Frankfurt Economic Development GmbH & FrankfurtRheinMain GmbH. Earlier, the Seminar opened with the remarks by H.E. Mr. Raveesh Kumar, Consul General of India in Frankfurt. In keeping with the topic of the Seminar, Mr. Franz-Josef Schürmann, Managing Director, Infosys Technologies Ltd. and Mr. Frank Karcher, Regional HR Head, TCS Central Europe shared their experiences on the best practices followed by their respective companies while obtaining German visa/ Work Permit for their employees. They emphasized the need for proper compliance of procedural requirements while obtaining German visa/Work Permit for their professionals. Mr. Schürmann informed that due to liberalization of immigration rules for professionals and the positive approach by German authorities, the processing time for Work Permit has come down to 4 weeks as compared to 10-15 weeks taken for such cases in the past.
