Indian Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Vijay Gokhale and Consul General of India, Mr. Raveesh Kumar had a meeting with Mr. Garrelt Duin, North Rhine-Westphalian Minister for Economic Affairs, Energy, Industry, SMEs, and Crafts place at the premises of the state parliament building of NRW. Minister Duin expressed his hope that the negotiations on the EU-India FTA would make good progress and be concluded soon for the mutual benefit of the EU and India. He also pointed out that he is looking forward to an increased exchange to bring the bilateral economic relations to the next level.

The Ambassador and the Consul General were also welcomed by Mr. Sven Afhüppe, Deputy Chief Editor, Handelsblatt at the HQs of Handelsblatt in Düsseldorf. The meeting dwelled upon the content of the reports that Handelsblatt publishes on India.

During the course of their visit, the Ambassador and the Consul General also visited the premises of M/s SMS Meer took place at the HQs of the company in Mönchengladbach. They were received by the Managing Directors of the company, Mr. Jens Barth and Marcel Fasswald. The meeting mainly revolved around the company’s operations in India and the impact of governmental policies that the affect the company’s logistics.

On the 15th May, the Ambassador and the Consul General participated in the Annual General Meeting of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (Deutsch-Indische Handelskammer) in Duesseldorf.
