The Indian Association Bonn organised celebrations on the occasion of 70th Independence Day of India in Bonn Bad Godesberg. The celebrations were attended by the Freedom Fighter Sardar Sarwan Singh (109), Consul PPIC Mrs Soni Dahiya, CGI Frankfurt, acting Lord Mayor of Bonn Frau Klingmüller, Mayer of Bad-Godesberg Stein-Lücke.

The Consulate General of India Frankfurt celebrated the 70th Independence Day of India at the Consulate premises today.

Make in India' campaign -North Rhine-Westphalia on 19th and 20th July.

Consul General Raveesh Kumar was welcomed by the Lord Mayor of Dortmund Herr Ulrich Sierau at the Rathause on 19th July. The discussions centred around the economic engagement between the Ruhr region and India and possibilities to bring India closer to Dortmund in the near future through initiatives launched by GoI such as Make In India and initiatives as 'Start2grow' developed for Startups by the Wirtschaftsförderung Dortmund.

CGI Frankfurt conducted the first semester of Hindi classes from 10th May to 12 July 2016 which were taught by Mr. Swadesh Das. On 12 July, 2016, certificates of attendance were presented by Consul (PPIC) to the participants.

India meets Cologne On 16th June, Consul General met with the Lord Mayor of Cologne Ms. Henriette Reker. The meeting was precursor to the Cologne India Week that will commence with the International Day of Yoga celebration in the City on 21st June 2016. Ms. Reker, an independent politician, was elected as the new Lord Mayor of Cologne in October 2015. The major points of discussion were a possibility of the Lord Mayor taking an economic delegation to India in 2017, the 8th Cologne India week and City Twinning of Cologne with an Indian City. .

On 26th June, Darmstadt Indian Association (DIA e.V) in cooperation with CGI Frankfurt and India tourism organised 'Maharaj Trio' Indian classical Music concert by highest Civilian Award of Uttar Pradesh Yash Bharathi Awardee Sarod Mestro Pandit Vikash Maharaj ji and Trio, in Haus der Geschichte, Darmstadt. Pandit Vikash Maharaj is an ICCR empanelled, belonging to the 14th Generation of Maharaj Clan from Varanasi and also nephew of Padma Vibhushan Pandit Kishan Maharajji. The event was attended by students of the Darmstadt University and residents from the region.

Consul General recently visited the Institut fur Sudasien-und Sudostasien Studien at the Universitat zu Koln. He met the Head of the department, Prof. Dr. Ulrike Niklas. The Institute is one of its kinds in Europe considering it is the only Indology focused institute concentrating on South Indian, specifically Tamil Studies.

Cologne became festive on 21st June 2016 with the celebration of the #IDY2016 on the Roncalli Platz with the grandiose Cologne Cathedral in the background.

The second International Day of Yoga #IDY2016 was celebrated today in the city of Frankfurt. The participation from the Yoga enthusiasts in Frankfurt and nearby areas was overwhelming.
